Think About: French and Francophone Studies

What does it look like to study French at Bucknell? Sabine Sellers ’17 and Haley Brown ’18 (who are both double majors in French and History) share their thoughts and experiences. Why did you choose your major? Sabine: French was something I more or less stumbled into. I started French in high school because my mother speaks a bit of it, and I figured that she would be able to help me learn the grammar. Despite the dreaded grammar lessons, I discovered that I enjoyed learning the language even if wasn’t all that great at it (my grammar is still […]

Tradition: Office Hours

Office Hours are a unique component of how university students interact with their faculty. Unlike high school teachers, professors often teach in many locations, and they are often scheduled to be somewhere else directly before or after your class. Sometimes you can stop in early or stay late to chat with them, but sometimes they truly don’t have the time. So how do you ask questions or seek guidance? Office hours are your answer! Professors are experts not only in your course content but also in their chosen field. You might stop into office hours to ask questions about the […]

Microwave? Refrigerator? MicroFridge!

Whether you’ve started it or not, you’re probably going to have a long list of things to purchase and pack in preparation for arriving on campus in August. Bucknell has partnerships with a few vendors who might help make that task easier. You and your roommate will want to talk about whether or not you want to bring a microwave and/or refrigerator, and then you need to make sure they fit the residence hall requirements. (You can find that information and a packing list here.) Or – you might want to consider a MicroFridge.  A MicroFridge is a combination of […]
